In this chapter, the Poetry club ask Wang Xifeng to join them as censor, deciding the sentence for who disobey the rules. She understood that her role will mainly be to give them money in order for them to organize the meals but she accepts. They also ask her to provide the painting material for Jia Tanchun. During their discussion, Lai mama arrive and they all talk. On her side, Lin Daiyu gets sick like every year during that period. She also receive a visit from Xue Baochai who try to help her feel better by giving her medicine. Later she write a poem and receive a visit from Jia Baoyu. He sees the poem and compliment her, but she throws it to the fire. The chapter ends after Baoyu get back home under the rain escorted by 2 maids and Daiyu cries out of weakness.
